Trauma Training

I use a multidisciplinary and blended module for my training. It combines my lived experience as a neurodivergent, mixed heritage woman with my own trauma; 20 plus years of front-facing working with individuals, groups and communities affected by violence and trauma; 15 plus years in senior leadership roles including Founder & CEO of Project 507 CIC, and various director and panel roles; experience as a social and racial justice campaigner; as well as education which includes training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock and Portman Institute, a MSc in the Political Economy of Violence, Conflict and Development from SOAS, and a Level 7 Diploma in The Psychological and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King’s College London.

I have been facilitating trauma training and trauma-centred reflective practice since 2016. If you want a shiny powerpoint presentation, I am probably not the trainer for you BUT if you want someone capable of cultivating emotional safety and containment, who uses an experiential model to teach as well as process what is brought to the space, I might be more your speed. I use interactive activities and case studies to embed learning into practice and policy. I am also really good at creating environments that allow for curiosity and reflection into our own biases and internal worlds as professionals without shame and guilt.

I have a range of ready made trainings or can create something bespoke to meet your organisational need, book in a discovery call today to learn more.

My training is for youth and community workers, volunteers, teachers/educators, criminal justice staff (prison, probation, YJS, police officers), social services, researchers, policymakers, charity and voluntary sector professionals, university students, funders and senior leaders.

I develop and facilitate training for professionals who work with individuals, groups and communities affected by violence and trauma.

What people have said about my training:

The trainer was passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about this topic and you could tell she had a wealth of first hand experience working with young people. She was energetic and confident- I really got a lot from this training.

Whitney Iles the trainer was amazing, what a great asset, her knowledge and experience was truly inspiring. i came away from the day feeling so uplifted and reminding me to be so much more reflective in the work i do.

I found this training to be incredibly impactful to my practice. The space was set up very welcoming and I felt comfortable to contribute to discussions - which I sometimes don't through fear of judgement.

Absolutely amazing training and ranks as one of the best training sessions I have attended! Whitney is so engaging and interactive and facilitated the session with passion and exceptional knowledge.

The training was delivered well. It was very interactive which was good and each trainer delivered well and took time to allow for questions and input from participants. GREAT TRAINING!!!

Whitney is obviously very well read and knowledgeable on the topics discussed. It was accessible to all regardless of profession or industry. It made me reflect on my own practice but also spoke to my personal situation. It was also great to see someone who clearly has a personal affiliation or a deep passion for the client group delivering the workshop. As someone who delivers training and can't help but be aware of the delivery style, I am incredibly appreciative of all that was delivered and it's delivery. I enjoyed so much I stayed whilst ill - thank you

Absolutely loved the training. The whole interactions and discussions instead of looking at slides made it so much easier to stay focused and more memorable. Thank you Whitney

I enjoyed the style of delivery in that the facilitator kept us all engaged, thinking, reflecting and talking about our practice throughout the day. I came away feeling more confident about the goals that I am seeking to achieve with my team and the strategies I am using to try and help them to be aware of how conscious bias and discrimination can affect responses to situations; their own trauma triggers, symptoms and levels and that of their clients and how they may be effective to manage that. I am really pleased that other members of my team have or are due to access the training.

The training was fantastic, professionally challenging - Whitney skilfully got us all to dig that bit deeper to explore trauma in its purest

Thank you for such an insightful session of great discussion. I found it very helpful and am excited to put some stuff I’ve learned today into practice.

Thank you for the really valuable opportunity to stop, reflect, sit with uncomfortable feelings and think about how we support children, young people and families in our day to day work. This training was extremely thought-provoking and will definitely change the way I work and approach situations.
